Enforcing Work Zones with Geo-fencing

With a RavTrack AVL system, your dispatchers and operators can monitorthe location of each vehicle with GPS, and what they are doing.  On the map display, you can create work zones and keep-out areas so your operators can see who is where they should be and which vehicles are not where they belong.  This is also ideal for theft detection, because an operator can see when a vehicle or asset is improperly moved,   But  vehicletracking ismuch more than putting an icon on a map. The RavTrack system is about managing your fleet and keeping aware of their situation.

Zones on a map may be identified by drawing a circle, square, rectangle, or polygon around them.  When an area on a map is specially identified, it is often referred to as bing "Geo-fenced".  A Geo-fence is a virtual fence drawn on a map, and certain rules are applied to vehicles within the fenced area.

With RavTrack PC, it is simple to setup "Alert Rules" forany or all vehicles.  Alert Rules may be configured to alert theoperator when any vehicle has entered a particular geo-fenced area, left a geo-fenced area, or is speeding in a geo-fenced area.  These AlertRules my be applied to a particular vehicle, a group of vehicles, orall vehicles. And an unlimited number of geo-fenced areas may be created, with separate rules for each geo-fence.

The Alert Rule software engine within Raveon's RavTrack PC software program is a powerful tool for identifying when vehicles enter or leave specific geo-fenced areas. And once identified, a number of different actions may be taken,

  • Alert the operator using a pop-up window
  • Alert the operator buy highlighting the vehicles Icon on the map
  • Alert the operator by highlighting the "Alert" button on the map screen
  • With one-click the operator may view all active alerts and see which vehicle have been idling too long.
  • Send an email or SMS to notify a third-party of the idling problem
